Josiah Johnson (The Head and the Heart)
Monday, February 6, 2012 at 4:37PM This is Josiah's Flock of Seagulls look
Josiah is an old friend of mine. One of the oldest friends that I'm still in constistent contact with actually.
As is stated in the interview, we were in our first two bands together back in Southern California in our younger years. One of Josiah's hobbies is trying to embarass me with factoids about when were young and what some people might call "lame".
Subconciously, I think I try to turn the tables a bit in this session--poking a bit of fun at his band's recent and pretty substantial success, and how that affects his songwriting, etc.
Josiah articulates his feelings about how important connectivity is with their fans, and with people in general. And I can safely say that this is not exclusively applicable to the band. He likes connecting with people, even when they're outside of his world or what he normally does/talks about.
Enjoy this bit of honesty and old friends having a conversation.

Hi Kyle
I stumbled upon your blog by chance, after following an Ariadne's string (actually initially googling Jessica Dobson) and I find the podcasts just great!
Simple, honest, intimate.
Thanks for posting these little gems :)
Hey Kyle,
What's the song mentioned by Josiah in minute 36' (in the part where he talks about waiting for *the* moment in a song) please?
Hello Sir,
Josiah is referring to the song "Ghost of David (Here I Am)" by Damien Jurado. Ghost of David was originally a very different song on an older record, but Damien has been playing an alternate version live for the past year or two (you might be able to find something on YouTube). He also just put a studio recording of the alternate version on the 7" records he included with the Deluxe Edition of the Maraqopa vinyl. It's a long song, but the payoff is well worth it.
